Mitchell Freeway Electrical Works

Client

NRW (HWA Alliance)

Location

Perth, WA

Project Date

November 2022 to March 2024

DCI was asked to deliver electrical infrastructure for WA’s Smart Freeway Mitchell Southbound project. The scope included lighting, ITS, CCTV and electrical termination works. Delivered under Main Roads WA, the project aligned with the state’s intelligent transport strategy. DCI brought proven expertise to high-risk freeway works, helping shape future-ready transport corridors.

The Challenge

The project required safe installation of poles, switchboards and power circuits across an active freeway. The complex environment included limited work windows, material logistics and strict compliance with road safety and electrical standards. Managing deliveries and high-risk activities around live traffic and other subcontractors demanded tight planning and experienced supervision to avoid delays and hazards.

Our Solution

DCI managed procurement, logistics, staging and installations to deliver all electrical scopes efficiently. Crews installed lighting poles, wired ITS and CCTV systems, managed termination and tested all elements to specification. We worked alongside other contractors and followed Main Roads WA’s compliance framework, keeping crews safe and the program on track.

The Result

All systems were delivered and tested on time, meeting all technical specifications. Our scope improved lighting coverage and smart system integration for the freeway corridor. The project reinforced DCI’s electrical capabilities and reliability on Tier-1 infrastructure packages, with no disruptions, zero incidents and full regulatory compliance across all scopes.
