DCI Group designs lighting solutions that balance security, safety and environmental compliance. Our electrical teams understand coastal and sensitive environments, delivering installations that meet operational requirements while respecting environmental constraints. We coordinate complex work across active sites, maintaining access and minimising disruption throughout delivery.
Following vandalism to Rio Tinto’s 10KP Office Building, site security needed urgent improvement through enhanced lighting across two adjacent car parks. The location presented multiple challenges: coastal proximity required turtle-friendly lighting to comply with environmental obligations, while continuous access to the gatehouse and car parks had to be maintained throughout construction. DCI Group needed to deliver a security-focused electrical upgrade that met Rio Tinto’s operational and environmental standards without disrupting daily site access or compromising safety during installation in an active area.
DCI Group developed a solution centred on a new 15-metre lighting tower positioned strategically between both car parks for maximum coverage. We specified turtle-friendly 484W LED floodlights to meet coastal environmental requirements and upgraded existing infrastructure with two Prosite 124W asymmetric LED floodlights on a 9-metre pole for targeted illumination. Our team prepared a detailed traffic management plan to protect site access during trenching and cabling works. Through continuous communication with Rio Tinto and careful staging of excavation, backfill and reinstatement, we maintained uninterrupted access while progressing installation safely and efficiently.
DCI Group delivered a fully compliant lighting and security upgrade over four months, on time and without access disruption. The new 15-metre tower and upgraded LED lighting dramatically improved visibility and security across both car parks, deterring trespassers and enhancing safety for site personnel. Turtle-friendly fittings met environmental compliance, protecting coastal wildlife while achieving operational outcomes. All cabling, termination and testing was completed to specification, with full reinstatement of car park surfaces. Rio Tinto received a practical, environmentally responsible solution that addressed immediate security concerns and long-term site protection.
